Want to do more? Become a Block Captain.

Block Captains are the heart of the HNA — friendly faces who help welcome newcomers, share news, and bring their street's neighbors along. It's a small commitment with a big impact.

Planning, zoning & bylaws

Protecting the character of the place we call home.

Our Planning & Zoning work keeps Hollywood safe and high-quality through advocacy, negotiation, and a close eye on city decisions. Our objectives:

  • 1Limit transient traffic cutting through the neighborhood.
  • 2Improve or hold zoning densities and create buffers between zones.
  • 3Negotiate building heights for adjacent properties.
  • 4Influence the design and access of new development around us.
  • 5Support quality education for Hollywood's children.
  • 6Enhance the lasting value of Hollywood for its residents.
Voting membership is open to homeowners or renters who live in Hollywood. It is not open to non-resident landlords. Annual dues are $10 per dwelling, and current dues are required to vote, present motions, or hold office.
There's one vote per dwelling. Motions pass by simple majority of members present, and a quorum is simply those who show up. Robert's Rules of Order guide our meetings, and any member can request a secret ballot.
The Executive Board has at least seven members — President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and three Directors including Social and Planning & Zoning. Elections happen each January, with the first for the new HNA in January 2028. New officers begin February 1.
Dues defray communications costs — flyers, signs, and other activities that keep the neighborhood connected. All expenditures are co-signed by the Treasurer and one other officer, and anything over $500 needs board approval.
The HNA covers the residential area defined by the association's map and excludes businesses and commercial developments. The association is strictly non-commercial and non-partisan.
